That’s it - I’m going home!
Don’t worry y’all, it’s just for a long weekend!
Since I have a wedding coming up in September, my “to-do” list seems to be infinite. I’m going home for a long weekend to see my family and get some things done. Though it’s mid-August and New York is starting to cool off, South Carolina is still sunny, humid, and HOT!
First thing’s first - I have to pack. With flights being so unpredictable lately, I have joined the Carry On Only (“COO") bandwagon! This does make packing a bit more challenging, but I include versatile and easy-to-pack items to help save space!
Thursday - Travel Day
I usually prefer to wear full-length pants on travel days, but I plan to make use of my Woolx leggings on this trip, as my flights are leaving early in the morning. My travel outfit for Thursday is:
Piper Leggings (I wear petite and love that they are available in petite, regular, and tall!), a Hadley Crew, and I'm also bringing my Sawyer Shacket.
This is such a comfortable outfit, and is still cute! Believe it or not, thanks to Merino wool, this shirt keeps me warm AND cool. For some extra warmth, I will have my Sawyer Shacket handy (and a portable blanket for those airplane naps). Luckily, this packs very easily into my carry-on!
Friday - Charleston Day
I’m so excited to get back to Charleston! It is such a beautiful area with amazing food, architecture, and history. No matter who you are or what you’re looking to do, Charleston is a MUST!
We’re headed out early Friday morning from my Dad’s house so we can meet the amazing baker who is making our wedding cake! After our tasting, we will meet with our wedding planner to finalize floral arrangements, place settings, and a few other details. I’m hoping to be done by noon, so we can explore for the rest of the day!
Every time I’m in Charleston, I like to park downtown and walk to The Battery, King Street, and the Historic Charleston City Market. After we can explore, we’re planning on going to a nice dinner at Hank’s Seafood Restaurant. I’d love to say that I’m trying somewhere new when going to this restaurant, but it’s an old favorite!

Friday is going to be an active day, but I still want to look nice, so my Cassie Dress will be perfect! The Cassie is a midi-length dress that I love to dress up and down. For the majority of the day, I will style her with my cream Sawyer Shacket and tennis shoes. For dinner, I will have my heels to slip on to elevate the style a bit.
Saturday - Working Day
Despite a lot of exciting things going on this weekend, I am most excited for Saturday. On Saturday, I’m staying at my dad’s and working on the farm! This may seem like a silly thing to be excited about, but he and I have always enjoyed “mini-farming” together. Now he has an actual farm and it’s a dream come true! Our to-do list looks a little something like this:
Plowing, hoeing, picking weeds and sticks, mowing, and planting. I’m sure the list will grow even more once we get going!
It is going to be HOT Saturday, but I’m not a huge tank top gal, so I’m going to opt for my green Addie Tee, Dani Bike Shorts, and Tempo Ankle Socks. All of these will keep me nice and cool in the SC sun!
Sunday - Travel Day
Unfortunately, I do have to get back to real life! But, to every negative, there is a plus… I will not have to do laundry this whole weekend! One of the biggest perks of Merino wool is that it's odor-destroying. This means I can wear my Piper Leggings again for traveling back to New York, and I can pack my working clothes from Saturday without worrying about my carry-on smelling like… well… a gym bag. Of course, I’ll also be wearing my cream Sawyer Shacket and black Addie Tee!
All together… here is my long weekend packing list:
-
1 cream Sawyer Shacket
-
1 pair of black Piper Leggings
-
1 grey Hadley Crew
-
1 black Cassie Dress
-
1 green Addie Tee
